GateAccess

Support

Help with setup, CarPlay and feedback. Without sharing your access secrets.

Updated: 2 November 2026

Requirements

GateAccess needs a link supplied by the access operator for the compatible DoorGateway at leipzig.fner.net. The app does not replace a gate controller and does not support arbitrary garage door hardware. Automatic shared storage requires iCloud Drive.

Setup

Enter a unique name and the access link supplied by the operator. Leaving the link field validates the access and loads its icon. Store up to eight accesses and use “Change order” to arrange them. The exact name appears on the CarPlay card. The question mark next to the trash explains how names work.

The app’s “Open access” action requires the access name. Enter the same name shown on the card; case does not matter. A custom Shortcut can contain this single action without storing a secret link. Several Shortcuts with different Siri names can open the same access. After renaming an access, update its name in the corresponding Shortcuts too. The appropriate iOS and file permissions are still required.

Operation

Select an access card in CarPlay. “Test” on iPhone also sends a real opening command for the configured access. Launching the app does not open a gate. Open Siri or Shortcuts to use the app actions. A custom Shortcut can consist of the single “Open access” action without storing an access link in the Shortcut.

Feedback

The two success sounds represent a confirmed relay impulse and its confirmed end. They do not report the mechanical gate position. Errors use a different sound pattern. If opening is not confirmed, check the gate before another deliberate attempt.

Common questions

Can I connect any gate hardware?

No. GateAccess requires a valid link for the compatible DoorGateway. It is not a universal replacement for a gate controller.

Does “Test” really open the access?

Yes. “Test” sends a real opening command for the configured access. Make sure operation is safe before using it.

Does the success sound mean the gate is open?

The success sounds confirm relay activation and the end of its impulse. They do not report the mechanical gate position.

What if opening is not confirmed?

Check the gate before another deliberate attempt. Do not repeat an unconfirmed operation without checking.

Why do I need iCloud Drive?

The app automatically manages the shared access list in its own Gate Access folder in iCloud Drive, without manual folder selection. Separately imported independent Shortcuts do need a one-time selection of the same folder. Siri and Shortcuts require the appropriate iOS and file permissions.

What does “Shortcut not found” mean in an imported Shortcut?

Check the Run Shortcut action in the editor. Use Apple’s picker to select the installed target again: “Zugang öffnen” for an opening Shortcut, or “Zugang einrichten” for a setup Shortcut. Close the editor. Selecting the target does not run the Shortcut.

Door feedback

For doors, the end of the relay cycle is acknowledged with “The door was released.” The buzzer has already stopped; this does not mean that the door is still released or mechanically open. “Door release was not confirmed.” indicates an uncertain outcome. “Door release command not sent.” indicates an unsent release command.
